Words like "hat," "tie," and "boot" are all part of the Clothing book, for instance. There are loads of special words to be found, collected in books of similar prose. It will remember the longest words you've found as well as the highest scoring. Bookworm DS tracks a bunch of stats like your total points from all games, average word score, and the total number of tiles used. So that's the classic Bookworm formula but there are some new bells and whistles and a new action mode here that really turn the heat up. If you ever get stuck you can always shuffle the game board, but this will result in more fire tiles being thrown into the mix. You'll want to use these burning tiles in a word as soon as possible. These will burn through the tile below them with every word you make, and if they reach the bottom of the playing field they will burn your library down and end the game. The dangerous Fire Tiles will eventually do you in – it's only a matter of time. By reaching score milestones you'll progress to new levels that will throw new types of tiles at you. Longer words net you more points, naturally. When you've finished spelling you can either tap the "submit" button or the final tile, but better make sure you can't add an S on the end to rack up your score multiplier even further. You point out a word by simply dragging your stylus along the tiles, which is an ideal input method for this type of game. Only adjacent tiles can be connected to form a word, though. You are presented with a mess of Scrabble-like letter tiles and must find words hidden in the jumble. The addictive word search exercise remains a lot of fun almost seven years after its debut on PC. PopCap's classic word game Bookworm is a perfect fit for the Nintendo DS – I'm only surprised it's taken so long to arrive on the system.
